DR. ROY J. BLASH RETURNS TO ADELPHI ACADEMY TO SUPPPORT ITS CONTINUING EFFORTS TO MEET THE UNIQUE EDUCATIONAL CHALLENGES OF THIS MILLENIUM

Beginning October 1st, 2007, Dr. Roy J. Blash has agreed to serve as the official educational advisor to the Adelphi Academy Board of Trustees.  Dr. Blash, a former Headmaster of the Academy from 1991 to 1995, and currently Adjunct Professor of Education at Pace University, serves as the Executive Director of Communities in Schools, New York, Inc.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Joseph L. Assini and Corporate Director of the Academy Albert C. Corhan, joined together in welcoming back Dr. Blash praising him as being one of the very few professionals who has “the unique judgment, vision and experience to help guide Adelphi Academy through the challenges which confront all independent schools in times of extreme change.”

During his accomplished career as an educator Dr. Blash has been instrumental in a number of innovative educational programs including developing special programs to help children who are in the midst of civil disruption, or in need of special educational intervention.  Since his appointment as Executive Director of Communities in Schools, New York, Inc. Dr. Blash has also developed a wide array of highly successful college intervention and counseling services which have helped hundreds of hard to place students successfully complete college.  During his time as Headmaster of Adelphi, Dr. Blash was responsible for many educational firsts including his perfection of the Adelphi Plan, a unique and original independent education concept uniting the teaching of interdisciplinary subjects as a comprehensive program highlighting humanities, technology, sciences, the liberal arts and fine arts.

In commenting on the future of Adelphi Academy, Dr. Blash remarks, “Adelphi is a proud tower of academia, measured by years of tradition, a true alma mater spirit, and a commitment to advancing knowledge and learning.  I am proud of my continued relationship with Adelphi Academy and to be of whatever help I can to support such a distinguished and exceptional institution of learning”.
