ADELPHI ACADEMY RE-INTRODUCES ITS CRICKET CLUB FOR THE 2007-2008 ACADEMIC YEAR
Cricket, one of the most popular games in England and throughout the Commonwealth is alive and well right here at good old Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn!
For the 2007-2008 academic year, Adelphi Academy will re-introduce the area’s first cricket club, under the direction of Dr. Linden Dodson, Coordinator of the Upper School and Dean of Faculty at Adelphi Academy. “I believe that we have the interest and the talent here to become a major force in the cricket world” said Dr. Dodson. Continuing, Dr. Dodson said, “I feel confident that in a very short time, this club will be set to take on other teams within the larger cricket organization and in typical Adelphi tradition do exceptionally well”.
Albert C. Corhan, Corporate Director of the Academy, endorsed the addition of cricket to the long list of Adelphi firsts. “I hope that members of the community will see Adelphi as not only the independent school of choice, but also as an innovator of athletics, sports and extra-curricular activities in new areas as well.” Todd W. Marsh, Dean of Academics at Adelphi noted that thanks to Dr. Dodson’s efforts, Adelphi has first rate equipment for the cricket club and a list of excited boys who want to play the game. Simply put he said, “I think that we will be a powerhouse in this sport in the very near future.”
Last year Adelphi’s basketball team scored an upset victory in its league to win its title and championship and its volleyball and soccer teams have always been successful. Families wishing to contact Adelphi and take advantage of our rolling admissions should contact the Office of Academy Admissions, (718) 238-3308, extension 310 for immediate assistance.
